Cobaltoan Calcite is a rare and beautiful mineral, a special variation of calcite that owes its pink or purple hue to the presence of cobalt. With a transparency that ranges from translucent to transparent and a vitreous luster, it presents a stunning appearance. It crystallizes in the trigonal crystal system and is often found in small, well-formed crystals. With a Mohs hardness of 3, it is relatively soft and can be easily scratched.

Major deposits are found in Morocco, the Democratic Republic of Congo, and other African countries. Metaphysically, cobaltoan calcite aids in emotional healing and the opening of the heart chakra, enhancing feelings of love and self-love, and promoting meditation and inner peace. Popular among mineral collectors, it is also used in jewelry making, although its softness requires careful handling.
